Repent, Or You Too Will Perish
We tend to feel better about ourselves when we do not appear to be as bad as others. Yet, instead of comparing with others on whose sin is worse, the truth is, all men are sinners without exception. Whether it is ‘bigger’ or ‘smaller’ sin, without repentance, it will all lead to the same eternal penalty. We should not be preoccupied with how well we stand in comparison to others, but how well we measure up to Christ. Importantly, we must not be over-confident to think that certain sin or disaster will not overtake us. Although there is no absolute connection between suffering and sin, we all need to be ready to escape the ultimate ‘disaster’ – eternal perishment, by seizing God-given opportunity and grace to repent, turn from our sin and return to Jesus. God is merciful and He desires all to repent and be saved, but He will not delay judgment forever. Thus, the urgent mission for those who have tasted God’s grace of forgiveness, is to help lead others to effective godly repentance too.
