Right Seats and Right Guests?
“Are you on the right seat?” That is the implicit question in the parable on honour, humility and humiliation in Luke 14:7-14.
We all seek higher places but do we have the humility to be seated at where God wants us to be? And when we bless others, do we give more than what they deserve?
Pride brings disgrace and humility comes before honour. God rewards those who are genuinely humble, those who are willing to submit fully to God, those who do not despise any person, but are gracious to those who cannot even repay them.
Our self-seeking motive may not be conspicuous all the time, but careful examination of our little acts and subtle thoughts betrays our hidden agenda.
Once again, God reminds us to be humble before Him and benevolent to all without prejudice.
